Mixed Fortunes by Liam Hogan

The first fortune teller predicted Henry would die horribly in a plane crash.

The second, that he’d die in a gruesome automobile accident. He sold his car and started taking public transport.

When the third foretold Henry would die in a fiery train wreck, Henry ignored her. All three couldn’t be right. Their warnings were useless.

The aircraft collided with the eight-fifteen commuter service, forcing a rail replacement. The driver, unaccustomed to the route, took a turn too sharply, and the overloaded coach, with Henry in it, tumbled down the embankment onto the burning wreckage of both plane and train.
