Vanished by T.J. Gallasch

“Where are the twins?” Mandy asked her mother.

“Gone with Daisy down to the billabong to cool off,” Nanna Rose replied.

“And you let them?!”

“Don’t worry!” the older woman tried to reassure.

Mandy wouldn’t have it.

“Mom, the twins are four and Daisy is barely twelve.”

“Had you grabbing me ciggies and bread from the corner shop when you were twelve,” Nanna Rose muttered.

Down at the billabong’s edge, Mandy and Rose found Daisy in shock.

“Gone,” she whispered.

Mandy dove straight in, but Nanna thought to ask, “Gone where, love?”

Daisy pointed skyward.

“Gone with Santa,” she said.
